Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description
This Mechanical Assembler role is a first-shift position in the AC/DC and wire departments within a large, clean, and quiet manufacturing facility. You will help assemble solar panel power boxes and switchboards using hand tools and power tools, working as part of a collaborative team on a non-automated assembly line. Daily work is organized and set up in advance, with panel boxes, switchboards, and wire prepared for you to build, and you will be trained to become cross-compatible across wire and DC teams.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble solar panel power boxes and switchboards according to prints and daily production plans.
  • Work on a non-automated assembly line as part of a small team to complete assigned builds.
  • Pull wire and spool it to specified lengths based on print requirements.
  • Read and interpret prints to determine correct placement of parts in the back of panels where wires are fed through.
  • Perform wire spooling and wire routing into metal plates and panels as directed.
  • Use hand tools, air power tools, and torque wrenches to screw in screws, nuts, and bolts and secure components.
  • Strip wires and prepare connections for assembly into power boxes and switchboards.
  • Work within one primary area during the shift, either wire spooling or assembly, depending on production needs.
  • Follow established procedures and quality standards to ensure accurate and reliable assemblies.
  • Meet production expectations of assembling up to 64 panels per day once fully trained and up to speed.
  • Handle manual material movement, including lifting items up to 40 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in on-the-job training to become cross-compatible between wire and DC teams.
  • Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and support a positive, team-oriented culture.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret basic prints and assembly instructions (similar in complexity to consumer product instructions).
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
  • Experience using basic hand tools in an assembly or mechanical setting.
  • Comfort working with power tools, including air power tools and torque wrenches.
  • Capability to perform mechanical assembly tasks with attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds as part of regular job duties.
  • Willingness to work on a team-based, non-automated assembly line and follow standardized processes.
  • Reliability in maintaining consistent attendance and working scheduled shifts and overtime when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with foot pedal crimpers is a plus.
  • Experience using pneumatic tools is a plus.
  • Basic or entry-level knowledge of mechanical assembly or wiring is beneficial but not required due to on-the-job training.
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with manual labor and repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to working in specific areas such as wire spooling or assembly for extended periods.
Why Work Here?
You will join a very clean, team-oriented, and laid-back work environment where on-the-job training is provided, making it ideal for individuals looking to build or expand a career in mechanical assembly and wiring. The culture emphasizes collaboration, support, and referrals, with consistent hours and a stable workload. This setting offers a welcoming atmosphere for those with basic skills who want to grow, learn new tools and processes, and become cross-trained across different departments.
Work Environment
The role is based in a large, very clean and quiet manufacturing facility on first shift, operating primarily on four 10-hour days plus additional hours on Friday when overtime is scheduled, providing consistent 4045 hours per week. Work is manual and team-based, with small teams of roughly 46 people and about 20 people total on first shift, and the operation is in the process of building out an additional shift. The assembly line is non-automated, and you will work in one specific area during the day, such as wire spooling or assembly. The facility is equipped with fans but is not temperature controlled. The dress code requires shirts with sleeves (short or long), pants with no holes, and steel toe boots; safety glasses and gloves are supplied as needed. You may wear headphones with a single earbud while working, in accordance with safety policies. The environment is super casual yet safety-focused, with an emphasis on teamwork and a supportive atmosphere.
